An on speed type of runner that has Won in Group 2 and Group 1 grade along with further placings in Group 1s on Heavy tracks. Acts best around 1400m range on recent preps form. He landed in Australia with a Timeform rating of 115. A mark that would be respectable going towards most of our G1 races as a 3YO. His previous best rating was a 112. Both his best marks have been on soft to heavy track ratings.

Led all the way down the straight when he won the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Deauville by a head back in July over 1400m on a soft surface. Good distance to third. G1 winner Thunder Moon who ran 2nd that day ran 11th/9th/12th since. Midtown in third went on to win a Stakes grade race. After that run by Law of Indices, he went to the Larc Prix Maurice De Gheest on a Good to Soft surface over a similar distance when on speed and was beaten 6L. Margin is unfair as was nearly put through the rail with 200m to go when on terms with the winners. Would have finished closer but not won.
How do these international horses ratings match up with market favourite I’m Thunderstuck? Timeform gave the horse 113 Timeform rating in both the Sir Rupert Clarke and Toorak Handicap.
Can Law of Indices win the Golden Eagle?
Yes, I would be looking for a Good 4 to Heavy 8 track range to be confident with a bet on the horse. Can he still win on softer or firmer? Sure, but i wouldn’t trust taking a bet on say a Good 3! Could the horse handle the firm? Sure. But i want to be betting up and getting a surface with at least a little give! This is an active player in the market and he will be on speed unlike the other two internationals or other two favourites in the race in I’m Thunderstruck and Private Eye. This is the top chance of the internationals for mine, being a Group 1 winner already over a similar distance and tactically being different to the top chances in the race and other internationals.
