The Caulfield Cup signals the start of the real Spring racing carnival in my mind down in Victoria. We really get to see what is under the hood of all the internationals with core goals of the Cox Plate or Melbourne Cup. In recent years, the goal was to find a horse with a Timeform rating higher than 117 that is well enough weighted and maps well in the race. Durston blew that all away last year with the lowest Timeform rating to win the race this century.
